Raritan Valley Branch Surprised Firefighters and First Responders with Pizza at the Civic Center Firehouse in East Brunswick, NJ on August 22, 2022

On July 10th, the board of the Raritan Valley Branch visited the Civic Center Firehouse for their open house to learn more about what they could do to help the firefighters and the community. Among the ideas that were being considered, the board thought that they could give back to the community by surprising the firefighters and first responders with pizza and drinks.

On August 22, members of the Raritan Valley Branch surprised the firefighters and first responders with pizza and drinks at the Civic Center Firehouse. All of the firefighters and first responders at the Civic Center Firehouse were volunteers, and they were extremely happy that they had pizza to eat. Members were also given a tour of the firehouse and learned a lot about the equipment, vehicles, and the day-to-day job of the volunteers. In addition, the volunteers told the members how there were 60 active members and how those who were 16 years old could apply to be a junior members of the firehouse. At the end of our tour, the emergency alarm rang. The members watched the firefighters prepare themselves for the emergency and roll out of the firehouse in less than 2 minutes. Many of the members were amazed by the rare sight and began taking videos of the firetruck exit the station.  We really appreciate everything these volunteers do for the community, keeping everyone safe and inspiring everyone across East Brunswick.

Thank you to Civic Center Firehouse and everyone who participated in this event!
