Greater Princeton AYLUS Promotes Youth Volunteerism at Chess Classes & Tournaments (70th) in May 2022

The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) Sports Committee promotes youth volunteerism while continuing tournaments and a chess schedule with classes (Must-know: Midgame) in 2022. Before class, GPA gives a quick presentation about what AYLUS is and what we do for the community at AYLUS to the students.

We are holding a class where students learn many middle game techniques. Eager chess players meet every week for a training camp to sharpen their mind in creativity and thinking in endgames. This week, we looked at a game played between Leonid Stein and Bruno Parma in 1962 that focused on the idea of outposts, half open files and other classic chess middle game tactics including pins and forks. Everyone had fun learning about theoretical middle game techniques and enjoyed challenging their minds with hard puzzles.

GPA Volunteers: Sarah Yan (5/2, 2 hrs), Erick Yan (5/2, 2 hrs), and George Chen

GPA Chess Club’s next tournament will be on Saturday, May 7th, starting at 7PM EST. The time control will remain the same (G10+5) and everyone is welcome. All ages can come and compete with their skills and have fun playing games of chess.
