Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) introduced Chinese Culture to a class of children (3-5 years old) at Dayspring Child Care Center in Metuchen, NJ on February 4th (1 hour) and further on March 18th, 2019 (1 hour), between 9:30 and 10:30am.

Dayspring Child Care Center has an “International Theme” for the month. Among many countries, China was indeed a focus. GPA members Larry Liu and Jeremy Liu, along with Ariella Wei and Nora Wang, volunteered to speak to a class of children, who were curious to know something about China.

Dressed in clothing from their native background, on February 4th, the volunteers explained the origin and customs of Chinese Lunar New Year. On March 18th, they put together a detailed ppt presentation to introduce a lot more interesting aspects to the children, from language, dress, customs, and food, to folk songs and dances of China.
