Greater Princeton AYLUS Member Zihui Xiao Volunteered to be a Chinese Teacher in HuaXia Chinese School at Plainsboro

Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang:

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) member Zihui Xiao (Alisa) volunteered to be a Chinese teacher in the HuaXia Chinese School at Plainsboro, where her student was a 50+ year old gentleman. Her class was scheduled for Sunday, 1:30pm-3:30pm, once a week.

Alisa taught the gentleman how to pronounce each word first and explained each word to him. Then, she led him to pronounce each sentence, and let him guess what each sentence means. If he couldn’t figure it out, Alisa would lead him to review all the vocabulary again. After that, she gave him a chance to first try a new paragraph and let him guess the meaning of the sentences as well. Also, Alisa gave him some homework in order to make sure he could understand all the information that he learned on that day. She would check the homework in next class and review the last class information. Once done, they moved onto the next chapter.

Service dates of Zihui Xiao: January 6th, 2019 (2 hours), January 13th, 2019 (2 hours), January 27th, 2019 (2 hours), February 10, 2019 (2 hours), February 24, 2019 (2 hours), and March 3rd, 2019 (2 hours).
