Greater Princeton AYLUS Featured 19th Talented Member: Vanessa Zhang on January 15, 2019

Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA), NJ Branch, has many talented members. Since December 11th, 2018, we started to feature some of them on our web page, so all GPA members get to know each other. Hopefully, it would also help with more constructive and collaborative teamwork among GPA members in our volunteer activities! So here comes one of our proud members Vanessa Zhang:

Self-Introduction Provided by Vanessa Zhang:

My name is Vanessa Zhang. I am 12 years old, a 7th grader at Grover Middle School in New Jersey.

I like math and Performing Arts (acting, improv, etc.) at school. I am also in the debate club at my school because I like to debate topics that are important to our life.

Outside of school, I do figure skating and play the piano. I started to skate at age of three and half years, and currently practice skating six days a week. I really love and enjoy figure skating, and it  has become part of my life. I got my first gold medal for ice skating when I was five years old. Over the years, I have won many medals on different figure skating competitions. I also won several prizes for playing the piano.

A couple of years ago, I volunteered to play the piano at the Merwick Care and Rehabilitation Center for seniors, along with many others. It was very nice to see how happy they were when they heard us playing music for them.

I’m joining GPA because I want to make some new friends, and, more importantly, to get more opportunities to serve our community and be able to bring a smile on people’s faces!
