Description of the Michigan University Youth Community Service Branch

We believe that establishing a chapter in Ann Arbor will provide us with the ability to better organize community service events and recruit prospective volunteers. The Michigan Youth Community Service strives to give back to the Ann Arbor community by primarily performing music at local nursery homes and other care settings to help combat loneliness and give support to the elderly community. We also look forward to coordinating volunteering events at local botanical gardens and would like to offer free tutoring services to underprivileged neighborhoods. Our goal is to promote community service and leadership within the undergraduate community, and it is our hope that every member will gain inspiration and a meaningful experience. To organize our branch, we have developed a leadership system where each role is distinct with well defined tasks. The secretary (to whom we refer to as Chief of Staff) will manage internal affairs and communications within the branch while the adviser will manage external affairs and communications directed towards outreach. We have also created a new leadership position titled “coordinators” to help direct the members during the volunteering events.
