On 7/26/21, the AYLUS Manhasset and Syosset Branches hosted the weekly zoom session where we read Journey to the West for Cultural Appreciation.
Every member was split into breakout rooms where they taught at least one student. In the breakout rooms, the tutors would ask students to read paragraphs in the story and help them with pronunciation and vocabulary. If they didn’t understand the paragraph, the tutors would clarify what happened by explaining in English. Each tutor would teach their students with different methods to help them understand the story.
The members that volunteered were Loretta Liu (1 hour), Matthew Yang (1 hour) and Joana Yang (1 hour)
