On Saturday, July 10th, the Greater Princeton branch of AYLUS (GPA) Sports Committee hosted its 11th chess tournament fundraiser. With more people joining the chess club, more kids play quality chess against other curious learners.
With the tournament about to start, nearly 60 people joined the club to compete in this week’s tournament, including players all the way from China! Before the tournament started, there was an informational meeting held on zoom to discuss the rules about the tournament and to introduce AYLUS to the participants that are not familiar with the organization, along with mentioning how to donate to help the community. The tournament started at 7:00 PM EST with many participants, in an 1 hour arena style tournament. Intense games were played, with many close games. When the tournament was over, “WunWun45” pulled ahead and won the tournament with 8 points (3 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw). Closely following was “dp-panda” with 2 wins, 0 loss, and 0 draws along with “Iesyeuxdenini” in third. Everyone had fun during this tournament and got the chance to play against a variety of different opponents with different skill levels.
ABC Chess Club’s next tournament is going to be hosted on Saturday, August 7th. The time control will remain the same (G10+5) and everyone is welcome. All ages can come and compete with their skills and have fun playing games of chess.
