On December 5, 2020, members of AYLUS Puget Sound held the first class of the 2020-2021 High School Algebra course.
Our High School Algebra class is prepared and taught by Cecilia Sun, Sophie Xuan, and Sarah Xuan. The class is scheduled to span from December 5, 2020, to May 8, 2021 (with planned holiday breaks). The course aims to cover high-school level algebra topics spanning from linear equations to basic trigonometry; we cover the fundamentals of algebra up until before precalculus. In each class, instructors explain core concepts of the topics of the class and go through example questions. Each class is also followed by a series of practice questions and occasionally extensions on the topic to cover a wider range of skill levels.
In our first class, we presented an introduction to algebra as as subject and covered linear functions and systems of equations. We had about 30 students that attended our first class.
Our next class is the upcoming Saturday, and we will be aiming to cover proportions and possibly an introduction to functions as well.
