On November 10, 2020, volunteers from the Irvine branch of AYLUS hosted its twelfth introductory history class for the fall session. We held the lesson on Zoom, and students, consisting of elementary and middle schoolers, had a great time participating.
Today we discussed the Cold War, and since it was a lengthy period of time we divided it up into two sections. Today we went over the basics ideas of the Cold War and some of the early actions such as the Korea War. We talked a lot about ideas such as communism, containment, arms race that might be difficult for students to understand at first. We had a lot of engagement with students asking questions and actively relating our material to their outside knowledge. It was overall a smooth class!
