Greater Princeton AYLUS Teamed up to Tutor Kids Math (17th) on June 14, 2020

On June 14, 2020, student members of the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA), Kevin Song and Karen Yang, teamed up and taught kids from West Windsor in the subjects of math.

The 3-hour class offered by GPA members starts with an hour of prep for gathering materials around noon. Then at 3:30-5:30 Karen and Kevin teach Pre-Algebra class. Besides the 5 kids, Kathy, Victor, Claire, Meisu, Claire, this week, we had the 6th student join us, Mia!

We began a review on word problems, to make sure that the kids remembered everything. Then we continued with more word problems beginning with “real life” word problems, similar to the one in the photo. Through this, we taught students about the “let statement” to aid their solving techniques. Since they did not finish the content last time, we wanted to make sure the kids really understand everything! We then wrapped things up by learning and teaching inequalities.  We’ll be having class next week with more details to come!
