Greater Princeton AYLUS Conservation Team Promoted Soft Plastic Bag and Film Recycling (4th) on February 23, 2020

On February 23, 2020, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) promoted soft plastic bags and film recycling at the McCaffrey’s in Princeton (301 N Harrison St) and Target store in Edison (100 Parsonage Rd).

It is a continuing effort for the GPA students to put their influence on the local community since their last public speech to the West Windsor Council on October 15, 2019 to support an ordinance proposed to reduce the usage of plastic bags.

Recycling has become as common today as taking out the trash. But not all items can recycle easily. Most of the plastic bags and film still end up in the landfill unless we intentionally separate them for special recycling treatment.

Since January, the GPA conservation team has been collecting all of those soft plastic items into large plastic bags at homes, and will have them delivered to McCaffrey’s, ShopRite, and Target Stores regularly for efficient recycling.

Participants: Annabelle Huang (3 hours), Emily Chao (2 hours), Sophia Wang (2 hours), Olivia Ruofei Mao (2 hours), Angela Bao (2 hours), Xin Chen (2 hours), Amy Shuyan Lin (2 hours), Melanie Chen (2 hours), Winnie Chen (2 hours), Sarah Liu (2 hours), and Shannon Liu (2 hours).
