There are millions of fun activities to do on New Year’s Day. The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) “Humanitarian Care” team chose to serve meals at the Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (PCCK) and spend time with the children on January 1st, 2020.
PCCK is a food pantry regularly serving dinner and providing kids with a play area once a week on Wednesdays. The kitchen’s goal is to help underprivileged people in the Princeton area.
In early December, GPA team member Amber Yu contacted PCCK coordinator Judy and arranged a face painting activity as a special addition to the New Year’s Day dinner.
After arrival, Amber checked in with Judy, went over some suggested guidelines, and got the art supplies set up. At first, the GPA team served meals and helped to get everyone situated. When the kids finished eating, they came over to the activity tables and the GPA team started the face painting activity. This special program was adored by everyone. It was truly a joyful night to celebrate the New Year.
Together with Amber Yu, GPA members Xin Chen and Fengqi Wen served meals at the PCCK from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm (1.5 hours).
