On Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, from 12 pm to 3 pm, the Great Princeton AYLUS (GPA) “Music from the Heart” team volunteered at a concert for seniors at Acorn Glen, a Senior House in Princeton, New Jersey.

During the 3 hours concert, GPA members Abigail Bao and Angela Bao performed a violin duet, while Xin Chen worked as a photographer and backstage-supporter.

“I was so proud of myself when they applauded warmly after our performance,” said Angela B, who is a freshman at Princeton High School. She had a wonderful experience from this event. Such a great opportunity to get involved in community service not just helps us to become more confident, but also learn about the seniors that motivates us to think and take actions to improve our society.

A “Music From the Heart” Team not only needs music performances on the stage, but also behind-the-scenes support and communication. “I am very pleased that I can do my best for the service of this team,” said Xin Chen.

The concert itself may not be important, but our respect and care for those people is the essential part. By purpose of this concert that to have a social impact by interacting with seniors, through this event, we got to understand more about the lives of people at seniors house, and that prepares us for working with such community service and organizing activities in the future.
