On Labor Day, September 2, 2019, 9 members of East Cobb Branch AYLUS baked and sold baked goods from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The goal of the bake sale was to raise money to fund the branch’s various activities and events. The baked goods were sold via Google forms to buyers before the event. A total of 9 members participated in the bake sale. After hosting the first two bake sales, we received many wonderful reviews from our past customers, who had enjoyed our assorted pastries and desserts. To be more efficient, the baked goods were made at two separate locations.
At one location, Emily, Faith, Rachel, Maxwell, and Cynthia made Japanese cheesecakes. To start the baking process, Cynthia first prepared all of the supplies needed to bake the cheesecakes. Using the recipe, she explained how to perform each step, so all of the students would be able to bake the cakes. Next, the students worked together in order to make cheesecakes in batches of 3. Each batch was an improvement of the one before, and the majority of the cakes turned out very pleasing. In total, the students baked 27 cheesecakes. The cakes were packaged into individual boxes and sold to customers who had previously placed reservations on the cakes. Extra cakes were sold to customers who bought them at the sale. Because many customers were eager to buy the extras, the extras were sold out in seconds.
At another location, 4 members baked different breads: coconut bread, red bean buns. Among the members, Jay prepared the red bean filling and helped with the dough and the baking of the dough; Isabel and Eileen prepared the coconut filling, made the dough, and assembled the bread to bake; Katherine baked the bread and packaged the breads into boxes. Although the quota was very large, through hard work, concentration, and some help from the advisers, the small group was able to finish baking all the bread.
After the baked goods were all packaged, they were taken to the delivery site where the baked goods were to be picked up by the buyers. At the bake sale, in total, 27 cheesecakes, 126 red bean buns and 90 coconut breads were made. In total revenue, we earned $400.Attendance: Cynthia Ruan (11 hours), Emily Yang ( 10 hours), Faith Huang ( 9 hours) Rachel Li (8 hours), Maxwell Jiang ( 8 hours), Isabel Zhou (9 hours), Katherine Sha (9 hours), Jay Pan (9 hours), Delrick Shen(9 hours), Eileen Zhang (9 hours)Reported by: Emily Yang / Eileen Zhang
