On July 22nd, 2025, Pearland Volunteers hosted an engaging and educational session for students focused on the role of robotics in modern industries. Volunteers began the workshop by introducing how robots are widely used in fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, space exploration, agriculture, and disaster response. Through videos, real-world examples, and hands-on demonstrations, students gained insight into the importance of automation and technology in solving everyday challenges.
Following the presentation, students were encouraged to think creatively and apply what they learned by designing and building their own robotic arms. Using basic materials such as cardboard, syringes, tubing, and craft supplies, each student crafted a unique model showcasing different functions—from simple gripping mechanisms to more complex multi-joint movements. Volunteers provided guidance throughout the building process, helping students troubleshoot designs and improve functionality.
