Event 59: AYLUS Morris Branch Fights Hunger with local church in June 2025

On a mission to fight hunger and support families in need, members of the AYLUS Morris Branch recently organized a canned food drive benefiting the local Chatham United Methodist Church. This meaningful initiative brought together youth volunteers and their communities to make a tangible impact through collective generosity and service.

Over the course of several days, AYLUS Morris Branch members actively encouraged friends, neighbors, and local residents to donate non-perishable food items, focusing especially on nutritious canned goods. The response was both generous and heartfelt. Volunteers collected a wide assortment of canned items—including vegetables, fruits, soups, beans, sauces, and proteins like tuna and chicken—all essential staples for individuals and families facing food insecurity.

By the end of the drive, our dedicated members had successfully gathered an impressive 65 pounds of canned food. On the afternoon of June 19th at 6:00 PM, the collected items were carefully packed and delivered to Chatham United Methodist Church, where they will be sorted and distributed to those in need across the community. The donation not only provides meals but also offers a message of hope and support to those experiencing hardship.

This project reflects the core values of AYLUS: compassion, leadership, and action. Through their efforts, Morris Branch members demonstrated that small acts of service—like contributing a few canned goods—can add up to make a significant difference. It also reminded everyone involved that no matter our age, we all have the power to lift up others.

The AYLUS Morris Branch is proud to support Helping Hands and looks forward to continuing its commitment to community service through future food drives and outreach efforts. Together, we can build a more caring and connected world—one can at a time.
