AYLUS Bellaire Branch Volunteered at Freewheels Houston on June 7, 2025

On June 7, 2025, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, two members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at Freewheels Houston.

Volunteers were assigned to work on cleaning and repairing broken or stained bikes to restore them to working condition. The fixed bikes will then be given to veterans, refugees, or low-income families in need of transportation on bikes. Volunteers first removed the wheels of the bike and any excessive attachments including bike racks, headlights, and baskets. They used de-greaser and soap to wipe off any rust or dirt on the body and metal handlebars. Further on, faulty equipment including bike tires, seats, and brakes was replaced and cleaned by volunteers. Lastly, the wheels of the bike were inflated with air to 35 PSI and put back on the bike. In total, two stained bikes were restored to pristine condition.

Two volunteers participated in this event: Justin Wang (3.5 hours) and Andrew Chen (3 hours)
