Greater Princeton AYLUS Continued “Youth Tutoring” and “School Leadership” Projects in April and May, 2019

Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang:

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) member Angelina Yingying Liu continued to introduce more English words into her students’ vocabulary, mostly through reading and then translating English picture books they selected. She kept the experience interactive by asking them questions relating to their own experiences. Their classes were filled with both fun and learning. In these tutor sessions, Angelina continued to follow a routine with the two girls. She would read one or two English books with them and tried to engage them and help them understand the content. After that, they play some interactive games such as using English Flashcards, piecing together puzzles, and playing board games. Volunteer service was performed on April 12th (1 hour class) , April 26th (1 hour class), May 3rd (1 hour class), and May 10th (40 min class).

Angelina continued her “School Leadership” Project with her partners. The Model UN Club members constructed their own position statements for their respective countries. In her meeting, members presented their position statements that they had written in small groups for the fun topic Zombie Pandemic. There were 4 resolutions to choose from, and after the speeches were done, they had time to discuss and persuade others to agree with our resolutions. At the end of our meeting, we voted and passed the resolution with the greatest votes. Volunteer service was performed on April 15th, 2019 (40min).

Great work, Angelina! We are so proud of your progress in both “Youth Tutoring” and “School Leadership” Projects!
