On March 09, 2019, 8 members of the AYLUS East Cobb Branch performed for 2 hours at Sunrise Senior Living and Arbor Terrace Senior Living Centers. Maxwell Jiang and Howard Hua had open speech, Cynthia Ruan was the organizer and gave closing speeches, and Asad Yamin was the reporter.
The two-hour program consisted of a multitude of pieces such as Vivaldi’s Double Violin Concerto in A Minor, Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque for piano, and many more. The performances were performed as piano solos, violin solos, and violin duets. Most of the performances were by pianists as unfortunately, March is a busy month for many of the members of the Organization. This meant that quartets and other large groups couldn’t be organized at the moment.
When the AYLUS membered entered both senior citizen centers, the performances had already been added to the senior centers calendar, our performance is part of their life. The seniors were delighted at the arrival and everyone was going along with the beat and applauding at the end. At the end of each performance at Sunrise, the seniors kept remarking about how talented each individual was. At Arbor Terrace, a senior who missed the performance and could only hear the end said how he wished he could’ve heard it all for it was so nice.
Each performance started with an introduction and ended with a closing. The seniors were surprised by how many piano players there were. They all were very happy and asked when we could come perform again. “Soon!” the organizer replied.
Attendance: Asad Yamin (2 hours), Cynthia Ruan (2 hours), Nathan Hsu (2 hours), Claire Jiang (2 hours), Matthew Zhu (2 hours), Susanna Huang (2 hours), Selina Huang (2 hours), Maxwell Jiang (2 hours).
