In February, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) supported multiple events celebrating the Lunar New Year throughout the State of New Jersey.
Lunar New Year is the beginning of the new year based on the lunar calendar or lunisolar calendar. The lunar calendars follow the lunar phase while lunisolar calendars follow both the lunar phase and the time of the solar year. Many cultures celebrate the event in various ways at diverse dates.
GPA members joined in creating an unforgettable experience for young minds during the celebrations, planning and preparing, then leading, organizing, and facilitating many classic craft projects and games.
GPA Volunteers worked at Kid’s craft and games: Kyson Zhou (2/16, 1 hr), Daniel Liang (2/17, 1 hr), Emma Yang (2/17, 1 hr), Cheryl Chen (2/17, 1 hr), Martin Zhao (2/17, 4 hrs; 2/24, 3 hrs), Michael Tung (2/17, 4 hrs), Max Chua (2/17, 4 hrs), Ruth Rui (2/17, 4 hrs; 2/23, 4 hrs; 2/25, 4 hrs), Sophia Feng (2/17, 3 hrs; 2/24, 3 hrs; 2/29, 3 hrs), Michael Feng (2/17, 3 hrs), Steven Li (2/17, 3 hrs; 2/23, 4 hrs), Robert Luan (2/23, 4 hrs), Xiaohui Zhang (2/23, 4 hrs), Yolanda Zhang (2/24, 4 hrs)
