There could be a medicine or treatment that works specifically for Asian Americans. However, many groups have been left out of health research in the past especially Asian American groups. Researchers need information from large numbers of people who reflect the diversity of the United States. All of Us is building one of the largest and most diverse health databases of its kind. We strongly believed that it was our responsibility to advocate the All of Us research program to the local communities in the cities of Plano and Frisco. Asian population in Plano is 63,686, percentage-wise 22.3 percent are Asians, out of these 31,363 are Asian Indians, 17,044 are Chinese, 2,643 are Filipinos, 729 are Japanese, 1,395 are Korean, 3,965 are Vietnamese and 6,547 are other Asian nationals. According to Google’s Popular Times Russell Creek Park is one of the busiest city parks in Plano. Eleven members gathered together at the Russell Creek Park on the afternoon of August 6th 2023. First we set up our stands, cotton candy machine, ipad for watching the video and laptop for signing up. After the participants watching All of Us introduction video, instead of handwriting their names and email addresses, this time we prepared an Excel file on a laptop for them to enter their names and email addresses electronically. Then they were requried to physically sign their names on paper for our records. To show our appreciation, each participant received either free cotton candy or free lemonade after signing up. Three members were in charge of advertising our event around the park. Five members were in charge of playing the video, explaining All of Us research program, monitoring signing up on laptop and signing on paper. The rest three members were in charge of making cotton candy and lemonade stands. Overall, it was the most successful event of three All of Us promotional events. We advocated both AYLUS spirit and All of Us research program to many people from the surrounding communities.
