On Tuesday, August 1st, Murrieta AYLUS members conducted a beach cleanup.
Starting early in the morning, the volunteers traveled along the sidewalk leading to the beach and the parks surrounding, picking up litter as they walked. They split off in the park, finding loose paper and tissues and small slivers of plastic wrappers. After the park, they proceeded to the shore, finding clothing, wrappers, and food waste intertwined inside piles of seaweed. As they returned to the parking lot, they found many pieces of discarded food and more candy and food wrappers, while discovering a few plastic bottles. Bagging the bottles separately, they look forward to recycling them at a later date.
