On June 11, 2023, eleven members of the ALYUS Morrisville/Cary Branch volunteered started our branch’s Summer Little Free Library Project. Our project goal is to build 6 Little Free Libraries around local Triangle area. Our mission is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a global network of volunteer-led Little Free Library book-exchange boxes. We believe all people are empowered when the opportunity to discover a personally relevant book to read is not limited by time, space, or privilege.
We finished assembling 2 book boxes and painting water-proof layer outside of the boxes. We also added design to the book boxes, one has the astronomy theme and the other one has flower/plant theme. We are working on getting approval from the city for installation.
