From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the Great Neck branch actively volunteered in the Memorial Day parade held in Great Neck. Memorial Day, a federal holiday in the United States, is a solemn occasion to honor and mourn the brave U.S. military personnel who sacrificed their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Traditionally observed on May 30th from 1868 to 1970, it has been observed on the last Monday of May since 1970.
Each year, the Great Neck community organizes a Memorial Day parade, and it was a tremendous honor for the Great Neck branch to participate in this year’s event actively. Today, numerous groups joined the procession, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the community. Notable participants included the U.S. Coast Guard, the Vigilant Fire Company, the England Society FDNY, and the Great Neck South High School band.
Today’s event held great significance as it brought the community together to pay tribute to the fallen heroes and show gratitude for their sacrifices.
