On May 13th, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members lent a hand to The Little Garden of Hope project. The members were pleased to see that the plants were growing well and had matured nicely. They noticed that the lettuce and parsley were ready for harvest and checked the office to see if any staff were in. The members returned to the garden seeing that no one was in yet and got to work. They split up into groups and worked on weeding each of the garden beds before turning on the watering system. For the plants that needed more water, the members hand-watered them with a hose after turning the watering system off. Coincidentally, on their way out, they bumped into the staff from Jacob’s House. The members immediately took the opportunity and headed back to the garden to pick the lettuces and parsley. After hosing the vegetables down, they placed them in bowls provided by the staff. The members dusted off their hands and left satisfied being able to see the fruits of their work.
