On March 11, 2023, the San Francisco South Bay Branch of AYLUS members Shannon Guo, Willow Hsu, and others conducted a creek cleanup event on the Coyote Creek River. The accumulated trash along the riverbed posed a serious threat to the ecosystem- especially with growing rain seasons-as well as people living in makeshift homes along the riverbeds. They worked with volunteers from the Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful organization to collect the trash and then dispose of it. The trash included mixed plastics, packaging, wrappers, batteries, shopping carts, paint cans, and household goods.
