On March 24th, 2023, AYLUS Great Neck Branch hosted a cleanup near the senior apartment. We cleaned up trash on the road, picked up litter in the area, and used gloves and trash bags to help us collect the garbage efficiently.
On the road, we picked up cigarette butts, food wrappers, plastic bottles, and other litter that had accumulated along the sidewalks. We also cleared debris such as fallen branches and leaves from the road to ensure that it was safe for the residents.
In the area around the senior apartment, we focused on cleaning up litter that could be unsafe for the elderly residents. This included broken glass, sharp metal objects, and needles. We paid close attention to the areas where the seniors were likely to walk or sit and made sure that they were clear of any hazardous debris.
We successfully collected many bags of trash, debris, and litter. The area surrounding the senior apartment was noticeably cleaner; our efforts not only improved the environment, but they also helped to create a safer community for the residents.
