AYLUS Pearland co-sponsored the first Dawson Dash Family Event on Jan 7th, 2023 by encouraging active involvement in AYLUS families through either racing or volunteering. It was also a follow-up event for the Bridging the Intergenerational Gap project that was launched by AYLUS Pearland in September 2022. A total of 30 people from more than 10 AYLUS Pearland families attended the event.
In the early morning at 7am, volunteers arrived to set up cups of water at the second mile mark of the 5k race. During the race, which started around 8:35, volunteers cheered on the racers while handing out water. After the races, volunteers also assisted in handing out water and medals to the racers. In addition, AYLUS set up a booth distributing flyers of the upcoming Lunar New Year celebration on Jan. 21st. Volunteers also organized other activities such as making balloon animals, face painting, Chinese yoyo tricks, and donning a panda mascot costume to interact with others. When the event ended at 11am, volunteers helped clean up and take down the stand.
A total fund of $575 was contributed to the Dawson High School PTA by AYLUS Pearland.
