AYLUS Pearland junior members continued their online English tutoring program throughout the
summer of 2022 with new students and tutors. Over the summer several new members decided to join this program to help teach English to students who are not native to USA. Most tutors would use online sources to help aid them to teach these newcomers. Some of these sources include Brainpop, Starr reading tests, and YouTube conversations. These tests would help the tutors teach cognitive understanding, decoding skills, enunciation, pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, and memory attention. The topics covered by these tutors include math, social studies, reading, writing, health, arts, technology, and culture.
The goal of the English tutoring program is to help students better understand English to be accustomed to the new language and develop friendship and communication skills. The program also helps students finish their English school work along with helping the students to build self-confidence and prepare them for their own successful futures. The lessons themselves are flexible and scheduled according to the students and the classes itself does not include many students which allows for one-on-one student and tutoring for optimal teaching conditions allowing for great results.
The fund raised from the project has been donated to the special needs program, SMILE.
