On Saturday, August 27, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, the Roslyn Branch of AYLUS volunteered at the Long Island Native Plant Initiative (LINPI) greenhouse.
At the greenhouse, we worked with various plant species- whether it be uprooting them or planting them, we worked hard during the 4 hours that we were there. Aside from exclusively working with plants and grasses, our branch also helped mix soil with fertilizer and fill pots with it- which we later used to plant grasses and plants in. We were all participating in different tasks- some of us were working with the soil and others were working with planting plants and grasses, so it was rewarding to see how much we were able to accomplish together in the end. This activity definitely taught us a lot about hard work, and we are delighted that we were able to participate in an activity such as this one.
Members who participated include:
Yang Amy Wu (4 hours), Elizabeth Hsiao (4 hours), and Ethan Hsiao (4 hours)
