On 7/23/22, AYLUS Manhasset participated in the outdoors by tending to gardens and ensuring everything was in good condition.
First, we start by checking on the composting site where pumpkins and other plants are planted. There, we spend a while getting rid of weeds and watering the plants. As there were many weeds, it took longer than expected. We also cleared some bamboo, which were growing too rapidly. We took the bamboo that was cut to the community garden at Clark Botanical Garden to use as supports for other plants.
At the garden, we set up the support poles to make sure some plants can stay upright and not collapse. Since it was harvesting season for certain types of crops, we harvested some crops and tended to the garden watering the plants and ridding the plot of weeds. We let the lizard enjoy some food as well.
The members who participated were Loretta Liu (3 hrs), Matthew Yang (3 hrs) and Benjamin Yang (3 hrs).
