Phoenix AYLUS Transcribes Historical Documents 5/31/22-6/3/22

Phoenix AYLUS continues to transcribe historical documents from the National Archives. Volunteers Wenting Chen and Yongfeng Chen transcribed a total of 23 documents.

“I did Cable Number 1523, General Headquarters,A.E.F.,France, 28 July 1918 pg1. I learned that nurses have to wear complete uniforms and an extra pair of shoes for the war time. I also did Cable Number 2596, General Headquarters, A.E. F., 16 May 1919. I learned that the Artillery School in Treves was discontinued at an early date.I did Cable Number 1854, General Headquarters, A.E.F, 12 November 1918 pg 1. I learned that the U.S was evacuating German troops from Italian, Balkan, and the Austria-Hungary territories. ”

“I did Cable Number 299, [Blank], 23 November 1917 pg 1. I learned that a soldier died from cerebral spinal meningitis in line of duty.”

“I did Cable Number 2020, General Headquarters, A.E.F., 31 December 1918. I learned that First Lieutenant James K Symington got his Distinguished Service Cross award disapproved of.”

“I did Cable Number 1385, General Headquarters, A.E.F., 28 June 1918pages 1 and 2. I learned that orders by the military used cablegrams to order items.”

“I did Cable Number 1443, General Headquarters, A.E.F., France, 11 July 1918 pg 1,2 and 3. I learned that some of the stuff they order comes from France.”

“I did Cable Number 237, Headquarters, A. E. F. France, 21 October 1917 page 1 and 2. I learned that recommendations for promotion have to be accepted by the Headquarters first.”
