AYLUS Roslyn Volunteers at Long Island Native Plant Initiative (15th) on July 26th, 2025

On July 26th, members of the Roslyn AYLUS branch volunteered at the Long Island Native Plant Initiative in Brentwood in efforts to contribute to the local environment. Volunteers spent time splitting mature plants of various species into sections to repot, which allows for the growth of new batches and more room for each plant to grow. Volunteers also prepared fresh soil to be used in the pots, as well as organizing the workspace by pairing together gloves in a large bin. Through this experience, we learned the importance of the native plant species on Long Island and the efforts to preserve them.
