On Saturday, July 19th, seven AYLUS volunteers set up their stand at Russell Creek park. This time, we sold cotton candy, boba tea, and ice cream floats. We struggled to get many customers, despite there being a decent amount of people at the park. Either they seemed to be disinterested, such as those on the older side who didn’t want super sugary items—or there were kids whose parents didn’t come with them. Additionally, our cotton candy machine seemed to be slowly breaking down and it made smaller cotton candies than it usually does. As a way to mend the issue of the cotton candy being smaller, we changed the price of cotton candy to 2 dollars. However, even with these problems, we still tried our best—working hard under the ~90° degree heat of the sun. A generous donator was from the man sitting behind us in the same pavilion we were under (to which our advertising team reached out to), and he donated 10 dollars through our Zelle! The event lasted two hours, from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. Next time, things might go better—however, we definitely need a new cotton candy machine.
