AYLUS Great Neck Branch Tutoring At Station Library 40th (7/22/25)

Date: July 22, 2025

Time: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Location: GN Station Library

During the one-hour tutoring session at GN Station Library, volunteers provided dedicated academic support across diverse learning needs in a collaborative and positive atmosphere.  First of all, Benjamin Ko worked patiently with an adult learner practicing foundational English vocabulary and spoken pronunciation. He was later joined by Baiyu Chen, and the two volunteers alternated coaching the learner through interactive oral drills, fostering her confidence through consistent encouragement.  Meanwhile, Ivy Li focused on reinforcing English grammar concepts with a seventh-grade student, tailoring exercises to clarify sentence structure and verb tenses. Also, Janice Zhang offered comprehensive homework assistance to a separate middle school student, guiding them through multi-subject assignments while emphasizing critical thinking skills.  All volunteers maintained an engaged and supportive approach throughout the session. The atmosphere remained focused yet lighthearted, with observable progress among learners—particularly noted in the adult learner’s increased willingness to practice spoken English. Volunteers later reflected on the experience as “a rewarding hour” marked by mutual respect and shared smiles.
