Newtown AYLUS Members Volunteer at Local Library (7th)

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM EST, the Newtown Branch of AYLUS (Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States) provided meaningful volunteer service at the Bucks County Free Library – Levittown Branch, supporting the library’s goal of creating a more accessible and welcoming environment for the community.

During this session, volunteers helped return and reshelve books, ensuring they were placed in the correct locations to maintain proper order. Shelf reading was also performed to keep the library’s collection organized and user-friendly. These tasks are essential to helping patrons quickly find the materials they need and promoting independent learning for visitors of all ages.
Volunteers also cleaned and organized toys in the children’s section, preparing the space for future young visitors. A well-kept play area fosters a positive early literacy experience and supports families who use the library as a place for both learning and recreation.
By handling these responsibilities, the volunteers allowed library staff to focus more on assisting patrons, running programs, and performing other essential duties. Their work directly supported the library’s role as a hub for education, curiosity, and community connection.
Participants from the Newtown AYLUS Branch included David Soong and Edward Soong, each contributing 2 hours of dedicated service.
