AYLUS Frisco & Plano Branch Volunteering at FMSC event on May 31st, 2025

Reported by: Cheng Jing Lee Posted by: Jenny Lin

On May 31st, 5 participants (4 children, 1 adult) participated in the FMSC event. We began in a large room with other participants, listening to the staff explain the introduction and rules. After the explanation, we split into smaller groups, ready to pack the meals. We make sure to wash our hands firmly, wear gloves, and avoid touching the inside of bags and food,  following the hygiene rules required by staff. The food consists of vegetables, vitamins, soy, and rice, providing all the necessary nutrition. The work is pretty repetitive, so the process is quite efficient. The staff created some challenges and competitions for us to speed up the process and create some fun in this activity, for example, the staff created the 7-box in 2 song challenge, which the room needs to pack 7 boxes in less than 6 minutes. We created around 50 boxes total, which could feed 29 children a whole year. We cleaned up, collect the foods that was on the table(donated to the local farmers), swept the floor, and wiped the table.  Overall, this activity is satisfying and fulfilling.
