On Sunday, June 1st, 2025, from 10:30-1:30 p.m, AYLUS Roslyn and Syosset volunteered together at the CP Bayville Location. It is an intermediate care facility located in the town of Bayville. Their goal is to improve and enhance the lives of all the residents. We volunteer to assist them with arts and crafts activities and games.
Once we arrived, we started by introducing ourselves, as it had been a month since our last visit. All the residents and staff were happy to see us! We started off playing Jeopardy on the Wii. It was a fun way to increase participation for everyone by choosing different categories and answering questions. Then, we did some separate activities with multiple residents at a time, such as drawing, coloring, and activities that improve mobility, such as putting rings on a stand. After that, we put all the residents in a circle and gave everyone a turn at bowling. It was so fun, especially when many residents got a strike! Next, we inflated the giant Velcro dart board that we had gifted them and had many residents practice their throwing skills. We were happy to see many of the residents’ ability to throw the ball so far! It was very fun, one of the residents asked us to throw the ball and hit the target at the same time, which was very cool to see. After this, we did some axe throwing. However, we were not able to put the setup together, so we had to figure out a way to hold it up and the residents placed or threw axes and darts on the board. (These are toys) We ended the day playing the fishing game, which was a fun activity for all the residents. Before leaving, we brought all the residents to lunch and said goodbye. It was a great day, and it was amazing that we could spend our time with these residents! We can’t wait to come back soon.
