Reported by Kaylin Chen
On April 27, at Andrew’s house, three members of the Greater Tulsa Branch continued crocheting mats for unhoused individuals using recycled plastic shopping bags. We cut the plastic bags into rings, linked them into plastic string, and then rolled them into yarn. We continued working on a mat that had been started previously and successfully completed it, making it ready for donation.
Crocheting can be slow, especially for beginners like many of us, but after many sessions—adding a little bit each time—we finally finished a mat! We felt very encouraged by this project. Our session lasted from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., totaling three hours of volunteer time for each of us.
