AYLUS Queens Branch Volunteered at the One Letter 4 All Event in Midtown, Manhattan on 8/10/24

On Saturday, August 10th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, the Queens branch took part in the One Letter 4 All Event in Midtown, Manhattan. During this event, volunteers wrote letters to both women recently diagnosed with breast cancer and to youth from a detention center in Birmingham, Alabama. Everyone started with introductions of themselves and ice-breakers to become more familiar with each other. Volunteers were taught how to write and decorate letters, then began making their own with a variety of materials, such as crayons, pens, decorative tapes, etc. At 3:00 PM, all letters were collected to be sent to their recipients.

The aim of One Letter 4 All is to host a series of letter writing workshops in NYC in order to unite communities together. The organization offers in-person volunteering opportunities that are open to anyone who wants to learn how to write letters for humanitarian causes. Those letters are then donated to various organizations and sent away. Everyone who participated indulged in a fun opportunity to spend time with friends and spread care to others in the world.

Members who participated: Elaine Xia, Mushfiq Zaman, Melissa Zhou, Catherine Wu (All for 2 hours)
