San Diego Branch Hosted the 6th used batteries recycling event in San Diego in July 2024

Reported by Lauren Kan.

AYLUS San Diego Branch organized the 5th collection and recycling of used batteries on July 31, 2024. We dropped the batteries to recycle at Staples, where our volunteers collected a total of 9.2 lbs of used batteries.

Scientific researchers have claimed that recycling batteries can save 51.3% of natural resources. The recycling of batteries will contribute towards conserving our natural resources, saving energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The used and old batteries can be repaired as well.

Aylus aims to conduct monthly recycling of used batteries, anticipating substantial savings in natural resources compared to landfill disposal. This proactive initiative reflects a commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable waste management practices.

The following 19 volunteers participated for 1 volunteering hour.

Lauren Kan,  Sarah Chen,  Angie Hu,  Maggie Hu,  Eric Liang,  Ayden Liang,  Bruce Xiao, Jessica Chen,  Jessica Sun,  Philip Zhang,  Jessica (Jialin) Jiang,   Eric Xie,  Derek Chen,  Emily Chen,  Andrew Chen,  Andy Zhong,  Richard Chen,  Gavin Zheng and Brianna Zhang
