On February 11, 2024, Lunar New Year, members of AYLUS Oyster Bay participated in the Lunar New Year celebration at Syosset Public Library, hosted by the Town of Oyster Bay. Outside the theater, children demonstrated traditional Chinese cultural activities such as calligraphy and paper cutting. On stage, the festivities began with a traditional lion dance performed by the children, igniting the audience’s excitement. Town government officials took the stage to deliver their well-wishes. The children showcased traditional Chinese martial arts, including kung fu, swordsmanship, and tai chi, executing challenging maneuvers such as somersaults and backflips, eliciting gasps and applause from the audience. There were also musical performances and folk dances, featuring instruments like the guzheng and erhu, as well as Mongolian dances. Solo and ensemble performances on the cello and vocal renditions captivated the audience, earning enthusiastic applause and rave reviews. Together, everyone joyfully celebrated the lively Spring Festival!
