On Saturday, January 13, 2024, AYLUS Bellaire Branch members volunteered at E.D. White Elementary School on Saturday, January 13 for the first time of the year. The weekly volunteering program aims to help students with disadvantaged families with mathematics and reading.
Members tutored kids in 4th and 5th grade on topics ranging from fractions, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. Some volunteers even communicated in Spanish to kids who did not speak English as their first language. As a result, students were able to improve speed, accuracy, and comprehension in answering questions.
