On November 21, 2023, ten dedicated members of the AYLUS (Asian Youth Leadership and United
Service) organization in Pearland Branch, recently volunteered their time and talents to bring joy to the seniors residing in Chinatown. Organized by Kara Li, this Thanksgiving party was a celebration of togetherness, music, and goodwill.
The event was a delightful fusion of generations, as AYLUS members showcased their diverse talents. Some played enchanting melodies on the piano and guitar, while others regaled the seniors with captivating stories and soulful songs. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and applause as everyone joined in the fun. The seniors, not to be outdone, showcased their own musical talents, adding a uniquecharm to the event.
As the day unfolded, it became clear that this was more than just a celebration; it was a demonstration of genuine care and support. At the culmination of the event, AYLUS members distributed heartfelt gifts to the seniors, spreading smiles and warmth throughout the room. These tokens of appreciation were not just material possessions but symbols of the enduring bonds that had formed.
Moreover, AYLUS members took the opportunity to introduce the Salt and Light Program and All of Us Program, which aimed at improving senior citizens' access to social benefits and health consulting. This program, designed to illuminate the path to a better quality of life, was warmly received by the seniors who saw it as a beacon of hope for their future.
