On June 10, 2023, AYLUS Bellaire donated 280 books to Books for Development. The volunteers performed book drive and collected 280 books from AYLUS Bellaire families and neighborhood on kids’ books including picture books, fiction and non-fiction books, as well as textbooks and resources. They sorted them into different categories and delivered them to Books for Development.
Books for Development is an NPO (Non-Profit Organization) located in Houston, TX, and their main goal is to help increase the literacy rate in countries around the world. Through book donations, Books for Development is able to move one step closer to achieving their goal. Books for Development ship their books out to countries such as Uganda, Kenya, and Mexico; they also ship their books out to places around the USA such as the Harris County Jail. In total, Books for Development has been responsible for the creation of more than 400 libraries around the world.
