On August 19th, the AYLUS Pearland branch provided free art classes to the community kids at the Pearland West Library. Continuing to boost the students’ interest in art, volunteers offered interactive learning opportunities for all ages who want to explore their artistic talents.
At the beginning of the class, the teachers and teaching assistants handled out supplies and prepared the drawing, a color pencil drawing. The students were taught how to prepare the drawing of Yoshi with a simple grid. They continued on with the line art and took a break halfway for snack. The students continued on the lineart and will carry on where they stopped this class.
Volunteers found these classes allowed for students to develop creativity and safe space for those who enjoy art. These classes also facilitated social interaction, as the students liked to discuss ideas and compare their drawings with friends. Additionally, this was a great way to provide an hour of relaxation; allowing them to freely explore a hobby without force.
