On 8/5/2023, members of AYLUS Syosset branch went to Brentwood LINPI (long island Native Plants Initiatives) to help out the workers on planting plants, federalizing the soil and organizing the bucks and boxes that are used to put plants in. some of the plants we planted down was milkweed, seaside goldenrod and bushy aster. Milkweed is know for its a required host plants for monarch butterfly caterpillars By planting milkweed, you can provide habitat for monarchs and also attract and support pollinators. Our second plant is seaside goldenrod, fun fact about this plant is that it’s an important food/energy source for fall migrating monarch butterflies traveling the Atlantic coastal flyway. and at last we have bushy aster. Bushy aster is a plant that produce laxative, laxative is used to stimulate the digestive tract walls, speeding up bowel movements.
