On Friday, July 21st, AYLUS volunteers coached tennis as part of their continued summer tennis lessons for fundraising.
The students were split between beginner and intermediate players with Alexander and Yifan teaching the beginners, and William and Caroline teaching the intermediate players. The coaches first led a warmup for all the students and then moved on to further develop their forehand and backhand technique. In the intermediate class, the coaches led the students to practice their volley technique from the net. In the beginner class, the coaches introduced the serving motion and technique to the students and they were able to pick it up pretty quickly.
Finally, the beginners ended the day with king/queen of the court and Caterpillar, a footwork drill that required students to actively move to participate in the game, while the intermediate class finished with playing king/queen of the court.
