Last Saturday, AYLUS Houston Branch members volunteered at Books for Development, a local non-profit organization with a global impact.
Books for Development receives donated books and uses them to build libraries in developing countries, as well as prisons around the world. Volunteers help sort donated books and pack them for shipment. AYLUS Houston members meticulously sorted hundreds of books and organized multiple pallets worth of boxes full of books ready to be shipped, even in the brutal Houston heat.
With the help of our members, rural communities in Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, and Belize will have access to education for both children and adults. This enables these individuals to not only develop their literacy, but they will also have opportunities for more advanced careers and use modern medical techniques to keep their communities healthy.
AYLUS Houston is honored to have positively impacted thousands of lives, ultimately making the world a better place.
